BOXY CHARM/IPSY SEPT. & OCT.

BOXY CHARM/IPSY SEPT. & OCT.

When I started Nella’s Corner, I was an avid BOXYCHARM subscriber. After my move I halted my subscription while I got my life together. I am back at it though and I have noticed some changes since my re-subscription. Boxy charm is now under Ipsy. Let’s skip the boring reasons. Instead, let’s focus on how the variety of options has expanded. This time around I get to choose 3 of the full-sized products that will arrive in my box. The add-on store has great and deep discounts. With my October box, I added on two items for only $16.00!

Fenty Beauty – Semi-Matte Lipstick in The MVP – $3.50 (not clear on the original price as this is not sold like this anymore it sold as a part of a refillable lipstick set.)

Glow Recipe – Avocado Ceramide Moisture Barrier Cleanser – #12.00 original price- $28

Let’s take a look at the last two boxes I have received since resubscribing.

September 2024

Lys Beauty – Triple Fix Full Coverage Brightening Concealer

I like this concealer. I tried it out and it gives great medium to full coverage. Its buildable and the color match isn’t not too off. I use this concealer shade as a highlighting concealer. My only complaint is the heavy fragrance, I do not like make that smells like perfume.

Eloise Beauty – Flawless Loose Setting Powder in deep Caramel

Not much I have to say here. It is a great setting powder. Fine milled, feels great on the skin. I like the shade and finish.

IL Makiage – Mineral Baked Blush in Vogue (my choice)

Pretty shade, soft feel and finish.

Alamar Cosmetic – Viva Las Cheekas Cheek Palette (my choice)

I wanted to like this product. It was my choice! I might have used it wrong or that shade of blush is just not flattering on me. Its not a bad product though, it is very pigmented!

Toyfactory – Oatbae Hyaluronic Oil Makeup Remover (my choice)

Great product. Removes all traces of makeup gently and has a nice light fragrance.

October 2024

Before I get into the October box, initially I did not get all my items. I reached out to Ipsy Care about the issue. They promptly apologized. They shipped out my missing items and also replacements for what arrived damaged. Now that some good customer service!

(By the time this post was published I was still awaiting the missing items so look out for a separate post about those)

Ciate London – Watermelon Burst 2-in-1 Everyday Lip Balm

LOVE THIS! This balm/mask smells great and leaves the lips feeling pillow soft.

Girlactik – Rose Petal Dewy Face Mist

This product is very pretty. Shake it up and you see a swirl of petals and glitter. It’s a fine mist that is hydrating and adds a subtle glow to the skin. I have incorporated into my skincare routine as a refresher between products.

Make Up Forever – Mist & Fix Hydrating Setting Spray (my choice)

I have a bias when it comes to Makeup Forever, they can do no wrong. I will admit this product is similar to MAC fix it spray. If you have used that, it feels the same to me!

Kevyn Aucoin – Unforgettable Lip Definer in Minimal (had to reorder/ my choice)

When I get this product, I will tell you what I think. For now, what made me add this to my October box was the other end that looks a brush. I’m ready to experiment with different eyeliner looks.

Eloise Beauty – Goddess Eyeshadow Palette (arrived damaged/ my choice)

This palette has nice colors in it. The color shifting shadows are mesmerizing. All of them are very pigmented. I can not wait to see what eye looks I come up with. Unfortunately, when I first got the palette, it was damaged. I managed to “fix” it, but I did let Ipsy know, and they are shipping me a new one.

Fenty Beauty – Semi-Matte Lipstick in The MVP (had to reorder/ add on)

When I get this product, I will tell you what I think. For now, what made me add this to my October box was the vibrate red. Back in the early 2000’s I had MAC Ruby Woo; the red lipstick Rihanna created in collaboration with MAC. This is reminiscent of that.

Glow Recipe – Avocado Ceramide Moisture Barrier Cleanser (add on)

My new skincare routine (look out for a post about that) is mostly Glow Recipe products now. I went to Sephora and purchased a sample pack of glow recipe products and fell in love with this cleanser. I saw the full-sized bottle for only $12 in the add on shop. Naturally, I was going to add it to my cart. I love how this cleanser leaves my skin feeling soft, bouncy and hydrated.

BOXYCHARM: BTS PREMIUM BOX

BOXYCHARM: BTS PREMIUM BOX

Lorac | Pro Loose Setting Powder

MSRP: $30.00

“This ultra-fine, cashmere soft powder gives the illusion of an airbrushed, flawless complexion. The multi-purpose, airy, lightweight formula blurs the appearance of pores and fine lines, sets, and corrects under eyes, as well brightens for the ultimate glow, while holding makeup all day without flashback. Set, bake and brighten without drying or settling.”

I hated this product if I be completely honest. Not only was the color off but I did not like the texture of this setting powder. It felt very drying on my skin despite its claims of “set, bake, and brighten without drying..”.

Laura Mercier | Balancing Foaming Cleanser

MSRP: $30.00

“A foaming cleanser that gently yet effectively removes makeup, dirt, and excess oil without stripping skin of essential moisture.”

I enjoy using this cleanser. It is rich, smells luxurious and leaves my skin feeling soft and plump. My dry skin loves this foaming cleanser and usually foaming cleansers tend to leave my skin a little dry.

Bloomeffects | Tulip Dew Mist

MSRP: $34.00

“A multitasking face mist that delivers a brightening boost of antioxidants, plant extracts, and Vitamins B3, C, D, and E to revitalize, refresh, and energize. It’s designed to work as a humectant to prevent moisture loss, plus its formulated with environmentally conscious BoV technology (a first of its kind for clean beauty!). perfect on bare skin, over makeup, or throughout the day as an awakening skin pick-me-up.”

So far, I like this face mist. It is refreshing and very hydrating. It plays well with my makeup and enhances the look with a nice dewy finish.

Bite Beauty | Upswing Extreme Longwear Liquid Eyeliner

MSRP: $25.00

“Infused with passionflower, this ultra-pigmented and super precise liquid eyeliner lets you line the way you want – without worrying about smudging, transferring, or flaking. Plus, the dip format gives you solid, jet-black color payoff in a clean, vegan formula that applies effortlessly and doesn’t fade.”

Like most liquid eyeliners this one gets the job done with no bleeding and the fine felt tip makes creating wings easy and comfortable.

Complex Culture Beauty | Sonic T-Bar Facial Massager

MSRP: $58.00

“This sonic-powered toll delivers a modern facial massage to increase blood flow, reduce puffiness, relieve facial tension, and help tone facial contours. Give yourself the daily luxury of an at-home massage to temporarily smooth and sculpt skin. rejuvenate and sculpt your skin in just a matter of minutes whenever you can squeeze into your routine.”

VERB | Ghost Oil

MSRP: $18.00

“This weightless hair oil revitalizes strands from root to ends. Powered by moringa oil, this blend works to hydrate and fight frizz. It’s proven to enhance shine by 75% (in a third-party lab testing setting after applying to dry human hair fibers).”

Hydrating? Yes. Fights frizz? Yes. Will I purchase this oil again on my own? Probably not. Nothing against it but I already have hair products making the same claims.
