BOXYCHARM: November Base Box

BOXYCHARM: November Base Box

Natasha Denona | Peak Palette

MSRP: $48.00

“A 5-pan palette featuring Natasha’s essential everyday warm-toned eye pigments that she mixes and matches from her favorite palettes- all reorganized and wrapped into one! Composed of both creamy matte and metallic formulas from the cult classic Biba, Safari, and Sunrise eyeshadow palettes, you’ll find yourself reaching for this all season long.”

I like this palette. I do not like the retail price for 5 shades, but I guess you are paying for quality. The quality is there, rich pigmentation, buttery smooth application and amazingly easy to blend but $48? In this economy? I don’t know about all that. Thank goodness for my BOXYCHARM subscription. I created this eye look using it.

Peach & Lily | Power Calm Hydrating Gel Cleanser

MSRP: $28.00

“Cleansing properly can be the difference between healthy skin and problem-prone skin. This gentle sulfate-free cleanser contains no harmful ingredients and keeps your skin barrier intact, so you can start your routine right with skin that feels deeply cleansed, refreshed, and hydrated.”

Now full disclosure, I have only used this cleanser twice because I just got it and I’m really committed to my Fenty Skin skincare routine. All that aside I enjoyed my sessions using this cleanser. It smells like chamomile and camelia. It gently cleanses the skin, did not irritate my eyes. My skin did not feel dry or stripped afterwards but plump and ready for me to add my toner and serums.

Milk Makeup | Kush Waterproof Mascara

MSRP:$24.00

“A waterproof, intense black mascara with thickening, heart-shaped fibers, and conditioning hemp-derived cannabis seed oil.”

This mascara is… mascara. I personally prefer mascaras that thicken and lengthen. This one thickens but I don’t see a great difference.  Maybe after repeated use I can see the benefits of the hemp seed oil but first impression is meh, mascara.

Yensa Beauty | Pumpkin Turmeric 2-in-1 Radiance Polishing Mask

MSRP: $45.00

“A 2-in-1 mask infused with 8 orange skin-loving ingredients to help nourish and polish your face for a hydrated, smooth, supple, and radiant complexion. The lightweight and exfoliating formula resurfaces skin in only 5-10 minutes.”

I received this mask with a different subscription service in the past and loved it. It lived up to its claims and leaves the skin soft, supple, and radiant. I was happy to receive a full-size bottle in this month’s box.

Jecca Blac | Liquid Corrector 2.0

MSRP: $15.00

“Meet the perfect under eye brightener, which disguises darkness and evens out skin tone. The lightweight formula creates a natural, glowing finish.”

At first, I was a little skeptical of if this product would work for me. I usually use a more orange to red color corrector and the formula did take me aback. It is noticeably light weight and has a slightly watery consistency. I used my finger to bend it out under my eye and was amazed at how easy it blended it out. It actually corrected my dark under eyes! It plays well with my concealer and setting powder. Definitely adding this to my regular makeup routine.

Masques that slap!

Masques that slap!

When was the last time you got a facial? For me it has been months since I have received a professional facial. As for an at home one I perform one on myself at least twice a week. Thanks to these products below I can recreate the comfort of a facial at home with a hydrating and nourishing masque.

GLAMGLOW Berry Glow Prebiotic Recovery Mask

I typically use this mask after a weekend of fun. This mask is rich and creamy in texture.  The benefits of this mask are hydration, evening of the complexion, and nourishing. With ingredients like Jojoba seed oil, shea butter, a superfruit blend of cranberry, blueberry, and wolfberry and lactobacillus ferment all together they get the job done.

Something I found interesting while doing my reach for this product was the ingredients label says Lycium Chinense (Wolfberry) Fruit Extract yet on adverts on the box it says goji berry. I looked a bit more into this and discovered that goji berries and wolf berries are related plants and only differ in taste and sugar content. Would make sense to use the bitter fruit for this purpose seeing as it this ingredient is an antioxidant.

The superfruit blend provides antioxidant benefits and vitamins. The lactobacillus ferment helps balance and support a healthy skin microbiome. The jojoba seed oil, shea butter and hyaluronic acid help nourish and hydrate the skin.

Ole Henriksen PHAT Glow Facial

Let me start by saying that I love this mask, it makes me skin GLOW!

Now for why this facial mask slaps, the star ingredients are PHAs, Nordic birch sap, pink bentonite clay, cotton extract, chia seed oil, extracts: lemon, sugar cane, licorice root, chamomile, and sandalwood. Like in another mask on this list PHAs gently exfoliate the skin. While the PHAs are at work the pink bentonite clay helps to clarify and renew the skin. The Nordic birch sap helps to hydrate and nourish the skin. The chia seed oil plumps while the cotton extract softens the skin and the extracts help to condition the skin. After using this mask my skin feels soft, smooth plump and hydrated.

Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask

This mask smells so yummy! Sleeping masks honestly perplex me. To me they are just thick, heavy, nourishing moisturizers which upon further research is the easiest way to explain them. These masks are usually packed with all the nutrients and acids that can do their work better when we are at rest.

The Glow Recipe Watermelon Glow Sleeping Mask is a great hydrating sleep mask that is packed with hyaluronic acid, watermelon extract, pumpkin extract and other AHAs such as lactic acid, and glycolic acid. The watermelon extract in this mask is used as a humectant to help lock in moisture, hydrating the skin. Watermelon extract is also known to have skin regenerative benefits helping to reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines. The pumpkin extract is credited to possess purative properties, aiding in skin repair and defense against free radicals. The hyaluronic acid helps quench the skin while the AHAs gently exfoliate the skin.

I use this mask when I want to plump and hydrate. I also sometimes use it as a moisturizer before applying my makeup for a glow from within look. It has a water gel consistency and smells like watermelon candy.

Glow Recipe Avocado Melt Retinol Sleeping Mask

Now for a mask I have been a bit leery about using. It’s not that I think it’s a bad mask, I just was a little shy about using retinol is all. Why? well I learned that retinol was best for those with acne and aging skin. granted our skin is technically always aging. I just did not understand the full spectrum of this great ingredient.

What I have learned about retinol is that it is a retinoid considered to be a skin revitalizer. It is reported to enhance skin radiance and treat conditions associated with aging such as wrinkles and fine lines. It is also beneficial for dermatological disorders including acne, actinic keratosis, oily skin, and rosacea. Long story short it’s an anti-aging hero.

Now about the mask, it is rich and creamy in texture. Its packed with avocado, matcha, PHAs and encapsulated retinol. The avocado is rich in antioxidants and vitamins E & C, this mask has both the fruit and oil extract. Matcha helps support the skin’s barrier and contains EGCG, an antioxidant that helps comfort, nourish, and soothe the skin. The PHAs are ingredients such as gluconolactone that are said to work like AHAs but less sensitizing. It is a slow releasing ingredient. Encapsulated retinol is said to help rejuvenate the skin and help achieve firmer-looking skin. The encapsulation helps it be a slow release ingredient perfect for a sleep mask. I like it and so do my friends.

Overall these masques or masks are great and by my definition SLAP!

(please note I have dry/normal skin type which is why I’m big on hydrating and nourishing masks,)
