My Favorite Skincare: Avocado Cleanser and Watermelon Toner

My Favorite Skincare: Avocado Cleanser and Watermelon Toner

Avocado Ceramide Moisture Barrier Cleanser- “A gentle hydrating cleanser packed with ceramides and colloidal oatmeal to nourish skin while effectively melting away makeup, SPF, and excess oil.”

What are ceramides? Ceramides repair the stratum corneum layer of skin in cases of dry skin, improve skin hydration, and increase the feeling of softness. They are beneficial for stressed sensitive, scaly, rough, dry, aged and sun damaged skin. Ceramides also help generate and sustain the skin’s barrier function. When applied topically they have been shown to capture and bind water, this is necessary for the skin to remain supple, smooth and hydrated.

This cleanser is rich in ceramides as well as colloidal oatmeal, avocado oil, and hyaluronic acid. Colloidal oatmeal enhances emulsion stability, increases viscosity and leaves a smooth after feeling. It also diminishes inflammation and irritation. Avocado oil is soothing and has antibacterial properties. Hyaluronic acid as we all know is capable of absorbing and holding a lot of water thus improving hydration in the skin.

Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore-Tight Toner- “A bestselling watermelon toner infused with PHA and BHA that hydrates, gently exfoliates the skin, and helps to minimize the appearance of pores.”

What are BHAs and PHAs?

BHAs are beta-hydroxy acids, are a type of chemical exfoliant that helps to remove dead skin cells and improve the texture of your skin. They are oil soluble making them effective at penetrating pores and clearing out impurities. Really great for oily or acne prone skin. An example of a BHA is salicylic acid.

PHAs are polyhydroxy acids. PHAs are also a chemical exfoliant but they differ from BHAs in molecular size (bigger than bhas) therefore they do not penetrate as deeply. they do offer moisturizing and hydrating benefits due to their humectant properties. An example of a Pha is lactobionic acid.

This toner is great at clearing impurities while simultaneously hydrating the skin.

What am I using now?

What am I using now?

It has been a while since I sat down and really looked over my beauty routine. I am not wearing makeup as much as I used to, but the skincare is still there.

The routine is still the same: cleanse, tone, serum, moisturize then apply sunscreen. I have been a Fenty Skin girl for years. But, I have switched up the products in my routine and I love the results.

Back in May I went to Sephora and purchased a skincare sample pack from Glow Recipe, Fruit Babies Bestsellers Kit. This kit included their Avocado Ceramide Moisture Barrier Cleanser, Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore-Tight Toner, and Guava Vitamin C Bright-Eye Gel Cream. It also had the Strawberry Smooth BHA+AHA Salicylic Serum, Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops, and Plum Plump Hyaluronic Cream. It was a six-step system that my skin loved. Considering each item was less than 2oz of course after a good month I needed to get some full-size stuff.

My new skin care routine consists of several products. It includes the Avocado Ceramide Moisture Barrier Cleanser and Watermelon Glow PHA + BHA Pore-Tight Toner. I also use the Strawberry Smooth BHA+AHA Salicylic Serum. The Watermelon Glow Niacinamide Dew Drops and Girlactik Dewy Rose Petal face mist are essential too. Finally, I apply the Keys Soul care Firm Belief smoothing Peptide Cream and Plum Plump Hyaluronic Cream. All these products leave my skin feeling silky smooth, plump and soft. I do my routine in the morning and before bed (when I remember lol). See my next post for just how beneficial these products are.
